God’s mission is to the world – both to serve and to draw people to Christ. In this hope Good Shepherd’s mission ministry is both local and global in seeking to embody Christ to others.

Evangelism Ministry

Led by Alene Love

Christians are called to share Gospel of Jesus Christ and make believers of all the nations. The Evangelism Ministry at Good Shepherd works to fulfill that calling as well as manage the new member orientation.

Giving Team

Led by Sean O’Brien & Scott Buell

As Christians we should be mindful that all that we have (ourselves, our time, and our possessions) is given to us by God and that we just use and manage these gifts in this world on the Lord’s behalf. The Stewardship group at Good Shepherd seeks ways to identify life-gifts and skills and seeks ways to best put them to use in building up the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Outreach Ministry

Led by Emily Kovac

Like the song says, “They’ll know we are Christians by our love” For people in need, that love often has to be food, clothing, or a helping hand. Christians must engage society often where it is hurting. Just a few of the things in which we get the congregation involved are: food drives; support programs for foster children, the elderly, and battered women; and refuge resettlement. Life is busy and full, but being a social minister makes it rich!

Mnene Parish, Zimbabwe

Led by Peggy Ruopp

Since 2000 Good Shepherd has partnered with the Mnene Lutheran Parish in Zimbabwe to provide school assistance to orphans identified by community leaders there. Over the years we have supported up to 50 orphans. The Zimbabwean school system provides both day school and boarding school. Good Shepherd provides day school fees, uniforms, food and school supplies. We also support designated youth to attend boarding school.

PLM Families Together (external link)

Led by Marcia Lieber, Lynn Kern and Colleen Vitek

PLM Familes Together, a non-profit agency, provides emergency and transitional housing for homeless families, support services, life skills training and counseling for permanent housing options.

WIHN

Led by Art Pfefferle

The Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network (WIHN) is a private, non-profit coalition of individuals and religious organizations united to provide short-term shelter, meals, and other assistance to homeless families of Wake County, with the objective of seeing them return to independent living.
